Renegades beat HellRaisers; to face Virtus.pro in final

Renegades won two maps to one against HellRaisers in Shanghai for a berth in the final where they will be facing the favorites, Virtus.pro.

The second semifinal in Shanghai kicked off on Cobblestone with Renegades planting on B in large part thanks to a double by Karlo "USTILO" Pivac, but a double by Kristjan "fejtZ" Allsaar and triple by Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow allowed HellRaisers to retake and win the first round. After losing the eco, Renegades won the first gun round as they swept HellRaisers. A quad-kill by ANGE1 the following round put his team back on track, though, forcing Renegades on an eco.

Down 1-6, Renegades got the man advantage after Keith "NAF" Markovic won a duel against Bence "DeadFox" Böröcz. Moving towards A for an execute, a double by Noah "Nifty" Francis opened the round for the Australian-American team that were able to close out the round. Down 3-7, Justin "jks" Savage outplayed DeadFox in a 1vs1 to reset HellRaisers and further close the gap deep into the first half. HellRaisers were finally able to go ahead into the half, 10-5.

Winning a 1vs2 in the second pistol round, NAF kept Renegades in the game, as they climbed back to 7-10 before the first gun round. With full AKs and Renegades with four UMPs and one M4A1-s on NAF, HellRaisers had the advantage and took advantage of it as Issa "ISSAA" Murad closed the round out in a 1vs2 againt jks and Nifty.

Gaining some momentum, HellRaisers won three rounds in a row, to go up 13-7, but Renegades were able to strike back with two solid defenses, not allowing the European team to plant either time. Putting up a wall, Renegades made it all the way back to 13-13 going into the twenty-seventh round, causing HellRaisers to call a pause. Ultimately, the North American crystalized the comeback with jks putting the last nail in HellRaisers’s coffin with an ace in the last round, closing it out 16-14.

A B rush gave HellRaisers the opening round on Overpass, as they flooded the site taking out all opposition. Having won the anti-ecos, HellRaisers were unable to keep it up as a fully armed Renegades defended the sites three times to bring the match back to a tie and start building an economy.

After trading rounds for a 4-4 tie, Renegades were able to win an afterplant with a triple by jks in the round to take the lead for the first time in the half, further increasing it to 6-4 after winning an eco against the European side. Quickly Renegades found themselves with 9-6 lead going into the half, which could have been 10-5 had Aaron "AZR" Ward been able to clutch against ISSAA a second earlier in the last round giving him enough time to defuse.

HellRaisers stole the second pistol round as DeadFox defused the bomb in a smoke while fejtZ kept USTILO, the last Renegades player alive, busy. Winning an anti-eco and the first gun round, HellRaisers tied it back up 9-9, and winning against an eco on the following round found themselves in the lead once again since the beginning of the first half.

Having won the six first rounds of the half and putting the steamroller on, HellRaisers took a 13-9 lead before Renegades could retaliate. The European team then reset the Australian-American team with doubles by ANGE1 and fejtZ, to take the 14-10 and all but seal the deal to take it to a third map. USTILO won a 1vs1 afterplant against fejtZ to get the eleventh round on the board, but it was HellRaisers who took the map, 16-11, taking it to the decider, Mirage.

The third map kicked of with Renegades dominating as they won the first five rounds of their CT side half without a hitch, and were able to keep rolling during the second gun round as NAF got quick double on mid to give his team a 5vs3 advantage in the round.

Finally HellRaisers were able to get on the board as fejtZ got a double entry to allow his team to plant, but Renegades were quick to retaliate, taking the 7-1 lead and not allowing the European team to build their economy.

Unable to be stopped, Renegades went into the second half of the decider map with a 12-3 lead over HellRaisers, that had to win the pistol round to keep their chances alive. They did, and also winning the first gun round, HellRaisers was suddenly mounting the comeback trailing just 8-12. Nifty opened the second gun round catching ANGE1 trying to go aggressive in palace. With a triple by jks, Renegades were able to put some distance between them and their rivals to keep on track towards a third map victory.

Doubles by AZR and NAF helped propel Renegades to the fourteenth round, forcing HellRaisers to take a pause ahead of a four CZ75 and armor one M4 armor buy round to try and stop Renegades from getting to match point, but a fake on the A site gave the Australian-American team free entry onto the B site which they were able to defend after planting without opposition. With no money to do anything, Renegades closed the map, and match, out, 16-8 earning in tomorrow’s final against Virtus.pro.
